[Webmaster: Many people
cancelled their travel arrangements after the October bombing. Here is one
of the few reports from the period. The empty seats says a lot about what it
was like at that time.]
-------
Got back last Tuesday from 9 days/8nights, staying at Bakungsari cottages in
Kuta. This is a budget hotel which has been renovated. It was clean and
quite nice, I will stay there again next year...
As for Bali itself, it's very quiet...not many tourists at all, although we
did have about 4 lots of people from Perth staying there, and a few Dutch
people, and a few Japanese.
The rate of money started around 4900 and went up to 5125 before i left....
DVD'S are 20.000 which is $4.00 Australian, they are all of good quality,
and I ended up with 15 by the end of my trip.
The shops in the Kuta market are
closing at 6 pm, because of no tourists around.
I only did one trip and that was into Denpasar, must admit i never bought
anything in there.
For the people that asked about staff at Uncle Norm's in Melasti street,
they are all fine...
i went to see my friend Putu (Robbie) that i have known for 10 years.
There were only 80 people on the plane when we departed Melbourne, and 60
were Indonesian, and coming home there were only 60 people, so I got 4 seats
and slept for a while.
I had no fear while I was over there, we went and saw the bomb site and paid
our respects. The Balinese are always there praying and having ceremonies.
I was told there will be a huge
ceremony there on the 15th November, and it is to be televised all over the
world.
I will be going back next year, as i have every year since 1991.
